1887 Queen Victoria, shilling, Jubilee head, with Victoria shown at an older age than previous issues, with a crown and veil, facing left. The legend on the obverse is VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITT: REGINA: D. The reverse shows the crowned, quartered shield with coat of arms, encircled by a Garter. The date at the bottom, 1887. The reverse legend is HONI. SOIT.QUI.MAL.Y.PENSE. The obverse shows very little wear, but the surface in the fields was somewhat proof-like so any of the small contact marks tend to show up even more. The reverse also shows very little wear and the surface tended to be protected by the large coverage of the detail on the coat of arms. Nice bright silver color overall with only a little light toning around some of the lettering at the borders.
