Imagine your best pair of socks have some holes, do not worry, here I am with the original Siberian sock darning egg for you. Exactly like my Grandmother had back in the Ukraine . I saw her using that kind of “egg” to repair all my hand knitted socks.
A very skilled craftsman Nikolay from the heart of Russia, Siberia created this for me. He made some spindles & supported bowls for me too.
I am a crazy spinner. HAHAHA.
This is one of my best seller at the festivals in Tennessee. A lot of young people surprise to see this & ask me, what is this, some people take this “egg” in the hand and start to shake as they think it is a rattle . But no noise, they surprise & then I explain to them.
Here is a darning egg to help you with those repairs. I imagine it could also be used to repair a worn out elbow on your favorite sweater , any holes.
Use this classic darning egg to mend the wear and tear of your favorite socks. It can be also be used at the end of a knitting project to firm up and even out tension. For socks, especially, finishing with a darning egg can ensure that the stitches at the very end of the toe are tight and even, blending in with the rest of the knitted sock.
This Darning Egg is made from Siberian birch tree wood and is finished with handmade oil - wax from Alaska. Oil - wax , which I rub into the wood , protects the “egg” very nice. The largest part of the "egg" is approx 2 inches in diameter and the handle is approximately 3 inches long and fits the hand comfortably. The overall length of this Darning Egg is approximately 6 inches. The weight is approx 2,4 oz (67g ) One is in dark color, I stained in walnut color. The lighter one is in natural birch tree wood color.
The darner can be used to mend socks----or added to your collection----or to make a gift to a sewing friend. She will thank you for such a lovely and useful gift.
This listing is for 1 "egg". Please convo me, the color you prefer & I will send it to you. I have one for myself, I love to work with it. Especially when I knit the woolen socks.
If you want I can stamp your name or simply your initials on the handle.
